1980’s I was a kid growing up in Temple ,Texas. The town was much smaller then . Things were also much different. I’d ride to school in my dads carpet van and sit on the rolls of carpet pad. My Dad would drop off my brother and I, we’d head to school and he’d head to work . At the time I didn’t know I’d follow in his footsteps nor did I know how talented my Dad really was. I watched my brother excel in art and I took an interest in sports. In high school the year 2000 I took a co-op class and started my first job with my uncle Jerry installing carpet and sheet vinyl. Although along the way I’ve entertained many other trade opportunities, I always came back to the skills my father and my family have taught me. 

In 2013 I was working for a small flooring store in Belton, TX were I meet the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen and she was talking about flooring! Tammy also needed some t-shirts printed for a 5k run. I had recently started an additional business doing silkscreen printing. It was a good way to invite her over “to see my operation”. Turns out that beautiful woman grew up in Elizabethtown, KY but we had many things in common. She is also from a flooring family . Tammy grew up in a flooring store her entire life sitting and playing on rolls of carpet pad just like me. Tammy was my missing piece. Although I had 13 years of experience in flooring I still didn’t have a brand.Tammy came up with our company name and Floored By Barrett Hines was born. 

2016 (three years after our first kiss in front of that Riley Hopkins silkscreen press) Tammy tells me I’m going to be a dad and it’s the best thing to ever happen to me . Our son is born that year and I have it all; two sets of amazing parents one inTexas and the other in Kentucky, a business, an amazing wife and two beautiful children Maiya and Hendrix. I’m very proud of my family. Taking pride in my work has always been something that means so much to me. I felt no matter what happened or how much it paid I would use each job as a means to another job. I grew up watching the best and that’s what I strive to be. Floored By Barrett Hines wants to be the best . That’s what separates us from the rest. We are a flooring family and our family has over 100 years of combined experience.
